Laminate Flooring offers greater strength and stability than a solid hardwood floor. If your installation location is prone to changes in humidity and temperature, laminate flooring might be a better choice than hardwood flooring.
Laminate Flooring is constructed of layers similar to how plywood is made.
The base laminate layer is watertight, glued HDF board (High Density Fiberboard). The top layer, known as the "design layer", is a specially coated and protected layer consisting of a printed photo of wood (or tiles) and the matching wood (or tile) pattern is actually impressed on the layer with high pressure and heat so that it matches the wood (or tile) pattern exactly. The photo layer is bonded to the HDF layer with special resin and is then protected with a very strong transparent layer.
QUICK-STEP® LAMINATE FLOORS SUPERIOR TECHNOLOGY
DIRECT-PRESSURE LAMINATE - The direct-pressure laminate technology we pioneered is superior because our flooring is completely balanced. The weight and quality of materials and pressure of production is identical on both the top and bottom of the board - creating a perfectly stable product with no bowing or collapsing in the center. This collapsed effect is common with competitors' floors as their top layer is too heavy and the underlayer is not thick enough.
QUICK-STEP's FOUR LAYERS
1. Transparent, Wear-Resistant Overlay - Resistant to stains, wear, impact, scratches, burns and household chemicals.
2. Design Layer - Innovations and investments in technology offer the ultimate in realistic designs and textures.
3. Water Resistant HDF Core Board - Offers more strength than a normal chipboard or MDF board.
4. Balancing Layer - Moisture-resistant underlayer guarantees a perfectly stable product with no bowing or collapsing in the center - a problem that's common with competitors' flooring.

We highly recommend that you take samples home. It is important to see the products in your own lighting rather than only in the showroom lit with flourescent lights. We suggest you also look at them in the daylight as well as evening. It's amazing how different each sample might look from one setting to another.
We have samples of all our flooring products. If you would like a larger sample, often times we can order one for you. We have many times matched up what customers have seen somewhere else. There is NO charge to take samples home and no problem taking multiple samples to compare and contrast.
